Address - 24 Queen St, Whittlesey, Peterborough PE7 1AY
Whittlesey is a small but rapidly expanding Fenland market town, situated 8 miles (by road) east of Peterborough.
We are a growing church with 55 registered members with around 15 adherents.
Average congregation 45 – 50 - described as including many longstanding members as well as a several new families that have come into the church.
Worship Style - This varies according to who is leading - described as “both traditional/ easy- going!!” The church is open to modern and traditional elements, a few of us still prefer traditional services but we are moving forward to a more free style of worship in order to accommodate our younger people, a mixture of hymns, songs and videos are used during services. Words for songs are projected onto a screen at the front and back of the church with music provided by organ and piano. We are hoping to include guitar playing again. It’s inclusive - Queen St embraces Cafe Worship and intergenerational approaches to worship, welcoming valuable contributions from many people during our own arrangements services.
Our children share weekly, with the whole church family, some of what they have been learning and making.
Mission projects - described as having a good connection within the local and wider community: Girls Brigade; Friendship Club (for the over 50s each Saturday; Coffee Morning Club; Bible Conversation (2 x month); increasingly Mission projects are being scaffolded by working through Churches Together in Whittlesey, Messy Church( 4 x year); Holiday at Home (2 x year). Community Film Club (winter months); a new Church garden recently opened to the community as a quiet restful space. Some were quite recently very involved in providing accommodation for families from Ukraine. We support, together with other churches, caring for the less fortunate in Peterborough through the Light Project and Whittlesey Emergency Food Aid Scheme.

“The dedication of those who serve the congregation and local community is an amazing strength. They bring hope, love and kindness to people. They give time and effort with the grace of God.”
“Friendly and welcoming to new people; online church presence via What’s App group ‘Queen St Friends Together’, our Church website and Facebook; activities for all ages and increasing numbers of families.”
